Tourism
Gulfshores.com – The Alabama Gulf Coast is warmed by sunshine, history, culture and unspoiled natural beauty. You’ll find 32 miles of sugar-white sand beaches made almost entirely of fine, quartz grains washed down from the Appalachian Mountains thousands of years ago.
Once you visit the Gulf Coast area of Baldwin County, you quickly realize these are some of the finest beaches in the world, and one of America’s hidden gem locations. You’ll yearn to return year after year to feel the sand between your toes, splash around in the turquoise water, smell the salty air and admire the jaw-dropping sunsets of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, Alabama.
While on the Gulf coast, be sure to check out the annual Hangout Music Festival that is held on the public beaches of Gulf Shores.
Mardi Gras – Mobile is the birthplace of America's original Mardi Gras. That's right, Mardi Gras originated in 1703 right here in this port city. It was revived after the Civil War when citizen Joe Cain, fed up with post-war misery, led an impromptu parade down city streets.
You can visit the Mobile Carnival Museum to learn more about the rich history of the birthplace of Mardi Gras.
Golfing
Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail – The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is a dream come true for the people of Alabama and for golfers all over the world. There is no venue in the world where such a golfing experience is possible.
One of the most unique aspects of the Trail are the tee locations. The tee markers on the Trail are pegged to ability level, not age or gender. The courses were designed to measure as short as 4,700 yards and as long as about 8,200 yards from the tournament tees, with as many as 12 tee boxes in-between. The courses offer a tremendous amount of flexibility.
